Luxury Penthouse Interior Design and Full Refurbishment

This boutique penthouse project was designed to deliver the drama of dark maximalism while maintaining clarity, balance and sophistication.

The client wanted the apartment to feel like stepping into an exclusive private members’ club — rich, atmospheric and layered with texture — while remaining cohesive and uncluttered.

To achieve this, we created a dramatic backdrop by colour drenching the space in Farrow & Ball Railings. This deep tonal base allows bold colours, materials and textures to stand out.

Lighting Strategy

Lighting played a central role in the scheme. In a darker colour palette, it was essential to balance practical illumination with atmospheric layering.

We introduced a carefully considered combination of:

• dimmable zoned recessed spotlights

• low-level flood lighting

• hidden PIR lighting

• concealed LED strip lighting

• table and floor lamps

• reading lights

• a bespoke fluorescent Crane feature light

Space Planning

Zoning the space was one of the most challenging aspects of the project. The open-plan layout had an unusual shape, yet needed to accommodate a kitchen, dining area, living space and office while maintaining comfortable circulation and ergonomic flow.

Through careful planning and furniture placement, we created distinct zones that feel connected while still maintaining their own identity.

 

Bespoke Storage Solutions

The original apartment lacked sufficient storage, so making use of otherwise unused spaces became a key design priority.

Several bespoke solutions were introduced, including:

• a custom sofa with integrated drawers beneath the seating

• a bedroom chaise designed as a storage ottoman

• balcony seating incorporating hidden storage

• guest room bunk stairs doubling as drawer storage

Thoughtful detailing like this allows the apartment to remain visually calm and uncluttered, while still being highly practical for everyday living.
