OLD HOUSE NEW HOME: Victorian House Renovation & Interior Design in Cornwall

This project involved transforming a three-storey Victorian property in Looe that had previously been divided into three flats back into a cohesive family home.
Stage 2 is currently in progress. Stage 1 involved creating a contemporary open-plan living, dining and kitchen space, a consultation room, hallway and downstairs W/C while preserving and restoring the building’s historic character. The colour palette is inspired by the clients most beloved artwork.
In Stage 2 we are designing the renovation of the top two bedrooms and the West Wing.
As the property had been divided into three separate flats, some of the original character and charm had been lost. There was no sign of the original tiles or that grand entrance Victorian properties are known for. The usually grand spectacle stairway had been replaced with a door and walled off at the side. We couldn't wait to see this space opened back up with a bit of added wow factor.
The challenge was to reintegrate the building into a single home with flow, introduce modern open-plan living, and balance contemporary comfort with the character of the original Victorian architecture.
